2010 Acura TSX V6
Acura's 2010 TSX is nothing less than a world class sport sedan. Critics are quick to point to the car's front wheel drive layout as and indication that it can't truly run with other cars in its class - cars like the BMW 3 series and Infiniti G37. But many buyers simply don't care which wheels drive the car. Those who live in snowy or wet climates will likey prefer front wheel drive anyway. If you want to beat your buddies at the local autocross, or are training to run in the British Touring Car series then by all means get the BMW.
In the real world, the TSX V6 is a perfectly fine and capable sport sedan and that message comes through right off the bat with a striking exterior. The look is backed up by a 280 hp, 3.5 liter V6, the same engine that powers the new TL. A five speed shiftable automatic is the only transmission offered on the V6. Still, the TSX is quick. 0-60 is accomplished in less than six seconds and it covers a quarter mile of blacktop in 14.5 seconds.
The interior is packed with high quality materials and available features like a class leading 415 watt Panasonic stereo including standard iPod integration. You can also get a rear parking camera and sat/nav with real time traffic updates, Zagat reviews and real time weather updates right on the nav screen. However, the G37's interior is nicer and has a richer look.
On the road, the TSX V6 feels urgent and sharp without feeling harsh. The cabin remains quiet and the seats are very supportive and very comfortable even on long trips. But here's the punchline - a similarly equipped BMW 3 Series will run about $8,000 more than the TSX. Expect to pay about $38,000 for a loaded TSX V6 although a the four cylinder version starts under $30,000 and is almost as entertaining to drive.
