2010 Kia Forte EX Sedan

Kia's 2010 Forte EX sedan is surprisingly good. Never heard of it? The Forte is new, replacing the Kia Spectra for 2010. There are only a few things you really need to know about the new Kia Forte.

Compare a similarly equipped Corolla, Civic or Focus to the Forte and the Kia comes out about $2,000 less expensive, that's the first thing. Second, you should know that the Kia's warranty clocks in at a lengthy 5 years / 60,000 miles with a 10 year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on top of that. Third, you should know that the Kia Forte does NOT feel the least bit cheap, flimsy or low-buck.

From behind the wheel, the Forte feels substantial, tight and responsive. There is some road noise but for the most part the cabin remains quiet and calm while driving. Interior materials are also first rate, rivaling even Toyota - glowing red gauges and dash lights add a modern flair. A dedicated iPod connection has become almost expected in this segment and the 2010 Forte has it.

Under the hood is a 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine that makes 156 hp. Again, that's better than the Civic, Corolla and Focus. The result is that the Forte feels spunky and is quick off the line. Handling is slightly sporty with a ride that's forgiving enough for everyday use. The Forte EX sedan's fuel economy is within 1 mile per gallon of the competition - the EPA says 34 mpg highway, the Focus is rated at 35 mpg.

The bottom line is that the 2010 Kia Forte EX is a very good car. Price and warranty alone might be enough to pick it over the competition but it's also good looking and a little stylish too. And when it comes to low priced compact sedans every little bit helps. If you're shopping for a compact sedan, at least give the Kia a shot, you'll probably be surprised.
