2010 Lincoln MKT Review
The 2010 Lincoln MKT's styling is polarizing to say the least. Try reading a Lincoln MKT review without the styling coming up - good or bad, it gets noticed. I'm going to call the MKT good looking not because I like it personally but because it so clearly hits the mark. The forward looking stylishness may be odd to some eyes but the MKT's look is easily identifiable and is the type of rakish, in your face yet elegant exterior treatement that builds brand recognition in a hurry.
More of a luxury wagon than a crossover or SUV, the Lincoln MKT is completely modern and at the same time a throwback. Inside there's plety of shiny chrome, real wood trim and soft leather. The seats are comfortable front and rear and even the third row of seating is easy to access thanks to flip and fold second row seats. The third row is for kids only.
Another victory for the MKT and Ford is the fact that this big Lincoln is mechanically similar to the Ford Flex. That's not the good part, the big deal here is that the average shopper will be hard pressed to see any similarity between the two cars. Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner you're not fooling anyone but the MKT has it's own look and distinct feel.
The 267 hp, 3.7 liter V6 is more than adequate and the MKT never feels down on power - every now and then the drone from the engine sounds a little taxing but for the most part the 2010 MKT remains quiet, composed and even somewhat agile on the road. If brisk acceleration is important to you, opt for the Lincoln MKT EcoBoost - it has a 355 hp turbocharged 3.5 liter V6.
Base price is about $44,000 or roughly where a loaded Flex tops out. Add options like a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, Sync, navigation and a Sony audio system and the price can creep up to the $50,000 mark. Still, the 2010 Lincoln MKT has the style and features to pull it off - so long as you're on board with the MKT's large, toothy grin and overall exterior look - Brian Moody
