New 2011 Nissan Leaf

Today in Los Angeles, Nissan showed off a new all-electric car called Leaf - they say it will be on sale by the end of 2010 as a 2011 model year car. The company laid out plans for a 22 city tour in states like California, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee and Florida - likely the areas they hope to sell the bulk of these cars.

A full charge should take 8 hours but a quick charge feature can "top off" a charge to keep owners going. It's being touted as a Zero Emissions car but even Nissan execs agree that getting electricity from a coal burning powerplant isn't exactly emissions free. Will it sink or swim? What do you think, would you buy an electric car like the Leaf?
